The Rock Says Check Out This Top 10 List!
Dwayne The Rock Johnson not only is one of the top wrestlers of our time, but now we can also add him to the greatest actors list as well.
If you were a fan of the WWE during the Smackdown era you either were a huge fan of The Rock, or you couldn’t stand him. There was no in between.
By the end of the last century The Rock pretty much conquered the Wrestling Entertainment world and made the move to the big screen.
Many stars who made big names in the WWE tried to make the jump to Hollywood and failed Mizerably. John Cena, Dolph Ziggler, and The Miz are great recent examples. But like the WWE, The Rock has been dominating the Entertainment Scene since he walking through the door.
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson has been in over 30 movies since 1999. His 2 main genres are action and comedy. He also can flip the script when it comes to being serious, and does a great job in Drama roles.
So how do you know when your really cool in Hollywood? I think a good measurement is being able to say you’ve played in enough awesome roles for someone to put together a Top 10 List about you. I’m a big fan of Dwayne Johnson’s work in the ring and on the big screen. The following Top 10 List is based off of my personal favorites in order.
#10. The Mummy Returns
The Mummy Returns was not only Johnson’s introduction to the series as The Scorpion King, but it was the first time I caught him in a movie. The Scorpion King is such a cool role to play, and he obviously did an amazing job. That role led to the self titled movie later in the series.
#9. Beyond the Mat
Before his epic role as The Scorpion King, The Rock made his debut in theater with “Beyond the Mat”. A documentary written, directed, and produced by Dwayne Johnson himself. The movie focuses on the lives of wrestlers outside of the ring during the WWF (now WWE) and ECW’s rise to popularity.
#8. Central Intelligence
Central Intelligence is the most recent movie to make the list. If this was a list of Johnson’s best comedy roles I’d have to rank this movie at #2 after The Rundown. In my opinion The Rock has become the best in the industry when it comes to infusing comedy and action. Kevin Hart is without a doubt the perfect costar. Their comedy styling both match one another perfectly. If you haven’t caught Central Intelligence yet, I highly recommend it.
#7. The Scorpion King
As stated above, Johnson did such an amazing job in his role as The Scorpion King in The Mummy Returns, they followed up by rewinding the clock 5 thousand years, and gave him a staring role. Its hard to choose which of his character roles was the coolest. I think Hercules may top The Scorpion King. Let us know what you think in the comment section below the article.
#6. Hercules
As mentioned on #7, I think Hercules is the coolest role he has taken on yet. How cool would it be to portray the most legendary Demi-God in mythology. In my opinion he did an excellent job. I’d say even better then Kevin Sorbo. This role is another great example of balancing comedy with action.
#5. The Rundown
The closer I get to #1, the harder it got to categorize my favorites. The Rundown is such a funny movie. Seann William Scott and Johnson have amazing on screen chemistry together. I see the scene with the psychedelic fruit in my mind every time I’m offered a piece of fruit I don’t recognize.
#4. Gridiron Gang
Dwayne Johnson isn’t just all about intense action and violence based comedy, he can warm your heart with a dramatic role also. Gridiron Gang is a heart warming sports drama that I think deserves to be lower on the list. He nailed the role of The Coach.
#3. Snitch
Snitch is possibly Johnson’s most serious role to date, and most dramatic. When it comes to a Fathers love for a Son, that love knows no bounds. Where I come from Snitch is a dirty word. In this movie he translates the title into Hero.
#2. Faster
Out of all the action movies hes played in, I’d say Faster is the most brutal by far. In this movie Johnson’s thirst for revenge has no limits. I really had to juggle this movie and the next for the #1 pick. Faster is an outstanding movie I think I’m overdue to watch again.
#1. Walking Tall
Most of us have been in the situation where we see an injustice happen in front of us, or happening to us, and we’re powerless to do anything about it. With Walking Tall you have to have a Rambo type of imagination. No one man can take on that many guys, but I think the movie captures the fantasy well. If you have ever stood up to a group or a bully, then you know what a gratifying feeling it is.
I hope you enjoyed the list. Like all Top List, its rare that everyone can agree. Comparing your take on something opposed to another persons with similar interests is one of the biggest reason Top Lists are so cool. Please let us know what movies you think we missed, or what you would change in the comment section below. Thanks for checking out the article!
