Are You Ready To Meet The Jetsons All Over Again
ABC ordered a Live-Action “Put-Pilot” for New Jetsons Series, and a New Animated Movie is in the Works
The entertainment world is buzzing today with news of The Jetsons new live-action “Put-Pilot” ordered by ABC. A new animated movie is also in the works.
Your probably wondering what a Put-Pilot is. If your thinking about a human version of the futuristic family putting around in their flying automobile, your not that far off. By put-pilot they mean that they will film one pilot for the live-action series. If the pilot yields good results, they’ll continue with production. If it ends up being a stinker, they’ll can it like futuristic food capsules.
The show will be filmed with with multi-cams, which is exactly what its sounds like. It will be produced by the superstar lineup of Robert Zemeckis, James Rapke and Gary Janetti. Nickleby, Inc. and Compari Entertainment are attached in association with Warner Bros. Television.
The Jetsons was created to be a futuristic counterpart of the pre-historic hit The Flintstones. You may remember them meeting a couple times. The original series ran from 1962-1963, and then was later revived with 41 new episodes in 1985. “Jetsons: The Movie” was the last project the show has seen since 1990, until this year when “The Jetsons & WWE: Robo-WrestleMania!” went strait to DVD.

There have been several attempts at reviving the family over the years with a new movie. Hanna-Barbera’s library is now owned by Warner Bros., who are currently developing a new animated movie based on the family with “Sausage Party” co-director Conrad Vernon at the helm directing.
Usually I don’t get to excited about news for a live-action series, but we’re talking about THE Jetsons here. One of the most legendary families in all of animation history. If your gonna humanify a animated series this is possibly the best choice. Throw in the news of a new animated movie in the works and I’ll ride the hype train. I’m very interested to see where this goes.
